A jazz club and full service restaurant are being planned for the suite formerly occupied by Cellar 46 in The Mercer building.

Michael and Marianne Bond, a Mercer Island couple, are planning to feature a lineup of jazz musicians.

“I think the timing is perfect to build a place here on the Island where friends can meet, have a drink and a great meal, and hear some live jazz music,” said Michael Bond, an Island attorney.

A permit is in process with the City of Mercer Island Building Department, and a lease with the building owner is in final review.

A renowned jazz club once located on Jackson Street in Seattle until 1962, called The Black and Tan, was the inspiration behind the name chosen by the Bonds.

The new, upscale venue will be for all ages.

Marianne Bond, as the designer, is working with Pretsch-Cahill Architects on drafting drawings.

Investors who would like to help start the new club may contact Michael at his law office at (206) 257-5440.
