Higher toll rates on SR-520 go into effect Monday, July 1

The Washington State Transportation Commission approved a toll increase in May for the State Route 520 bridge, beginning on July 1.

The Washington State Transportation Commission approved a toll increase in May for the State Route 520 bridge, beginning on July 1.

The toll will increase by 11 cents each way, or a 2.5 percent increase, reaching the $3.70 mark for peak travel.

The change, which has been planned as part of an annual increase, was approved by the commission on Wednesday, May 22.

The peak travel rates run from 7 to 9 a.m. on weekday mornings, and from 3 to 6 p.m. in the evening. The midday tolls on the bridge will increase from $2.31 to $2.35.
