The Mercer Island High School homecoming parade is now back on for it’s regularly scheduled route in downtown Mercer Island on Oct. 21. Last week it was learned the parade had moved to a new route around the high school, but has now been changed to a downtown route, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

According to information from the school, the Mercer Island School district and city came to an agreement to begin the parade at 4:30 p.m. and reinstate the route, which begins in Mercerdale Park, going north on 77th Ave., right onto 27th Street heading east and back onto 80th until 32nd Street.

The theme of homecoming this year is Romecoming, celebrating Greek and Roman times. The parade will include the MIHS marching band, homecoming royalty, cheerleaders, drill team members and floats.

Following the parade the annual Pizza Pig Out will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. at the high school. Tickets are $5 presage or $7 at the door. At 6:50 p.m. the senior night ceremony for senior football players and cheerleaders will be held in the stadium and at 7:30 p.m. the football game against Sammamish begins.

The halftime show will include All Island Band night and the homecoming royalty presentation.

The school is expecting a sell-out crowd for the evening, and tickets will be on sale at the MIHS ASB office on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21 from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children.
