Sculpted out of natural elements, this work of art stood on the grounds of the Community Center at Mercer View from April 30 to May 6. Tetsunori Kawana, a master Ikebana instructor, came from Tokyo to participate in demonstrations and workshops put on by the Sogetsu School of Ikebana during the first weekend in May. Ikebana is an ancient Japanese art of arrangement that goes back as far as the sixth century. The art aims to create harmony between structure, color and rhythm.
