The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has scheduled major closures of Interstate 90 on Mercer Island for later in September so crews can replace a critical expansion joint.
Closures include:
* 10 a.m. Sept. 16 to 5 a.m. Sept. 19: The West Mercer Way on-ramp, the right lane of I-90 and the bike path will be closed.
* 2 p.m. Sept. 22 to 10 a.m. Sept. 23: Westbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane west of 76th Avenue Southeast.
* 10 a.m. Sept. 23 to 5 a.m. Sept. 26: All lanes of westbound I-90 to the floating bridge (Homer Hadley Bridge) will be closed, with one lane of the West Mercer Way on-ramp open.
During the closures, drivers will need to use either Interstate 405 to go around the lake or the State Route 520 floating bridge, according to a city press release, adding that Islanders can leave and access Mercer Island using open routes.
