Island Books is holding a kids writing contest that will run from Oct. 13-Nov. 10. The fall-themed contest is for youngsters in grades K-5 and entries must be 500 words or less. A celebration of entries and announcing of winners to be read aloud will take place at 4 p.m. on Nov. 19. One grand prize winner from each age group will receive an author visit by Rachel Wilson and Kristin Varner at their school; runner-up in each age group (K-2, 3-5) will receive Island Books gift cards.
