Islander is producer for CBS ‘Face the Nation’

Washington, D.C. political news program stars Bob Schieffer.

Jill Morrison Jackson, the daughter of Islanders, Frank and Kathy Morrison, is to produce the CBS “Face the Nation,” television news show.

CBS News has announced that Jackson, who’s been with the bureau since 2007, is set to join “Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer” as a senior producer.

Jackson is a 1997 graduate of Mercer Island High School and a veteran of the Jazz Choir, Youth Theater Northwest and Island Sound. She is also a graduate of the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Economics from the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies.

Before joining CBS, she was a reporter and producer for NPR’s “All Things Considered” program in the Washington, D.C. bureau. Prior to that post, she was an intern at NPR in Seattle.

Jackson served as a Capitol Hill producer in CBS’ Washington, D.C. bureau before joining “CBS This Morning” telecast in 2013.

During the 2010 midterm elections, Jackson shifted to the role of senior political producer, and at the Republican and Democratic national conventions in 2012.

Jackson won an Emmy in 2013 for her work as a field producer on the “Business of Congress” series.

“Jill is a rising star in the bureau and we couldn’t be happier to have her,” said Schieffer. “There’s no better way to learn Washington than to spend your days chasing down the newsmakers on Capitol Hill and Jill’s years there will serve her well as she takes on her new responsibilities. She knows the players and she knows news. You can’t ask for more than that and we’re lucky to have her on the team.”
