Girls U13 soccer team Mercer Island FC Thunder took first place in the bronze division at the Mt. Hood Challenge in Portland last weekend. The Thunder went undefeated throughout the tournament, taking its first three games before beating Spokane’s FC Black Brown 1-0 in the final at Wilsonville High School Stadium. The winning goal, shot by Natalie Smith, was the only goal allowed by FC Black Brown during the tournament.

MIFC Thunder team members include Annie Poole, Natalie Smith, Quinn Casey, Joy Francke, Maggie McGuire, Taylor Richards, Lucy Cleator, Jalyn Sandwith, Lilly Pruchno, Haley Selman, Bailey Fotheringill, Sophia Chen, Emily Yang, Maya Groh, Molly Moffitt and Mari Hanan. The Thunder is coached by Mark Sandwith and Jeff Cleator.
