Tuesday evening the Mercer Island girls soccer team beat Juanita in a KingCo matchup.
The Islanders finished with a 4-1 score over the Rebels. Michelle Day had two goals for her team, one assisted by Emily Lightfoot, who went on to score a goal of her own, assisted by Celina So
lomon. Katie Martin had the team’s final goal of the night. Juanita’s goal was scored by Karissa Radke. The Islanders host Interlake, Thursday, Oct. 13, before playing Bellevue at home on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The team wraps up the regular season with games against Sammamish, Liberty and Mount Si. 
Mercer Island is 2-8-1 this season.

Mercer Island downs Bellevue | Boys tennis

After several matches postponed because of weather, the Mercer Island boys tennis team finally got to play Wednesday afternoon. The Islanders took on Bellevue, winning 6-1.
The Wolverines lone win came in the singles match between Zack Kosanke and Jordan Smith with Kosanke winning 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 over Smith. Islander Henry Smith won 6-0, 6-0, while Brian Hou won 6-1, 6-0. Josh Hartmann won the final singles match of the day over Elton Lon 6-7, 6-1, 6-2.
In the doubles comepttion, Kyle Baska and Marcus Almqvist won 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, while Jeremy Chow and Spencer Dillon won 6-0, 6-3.
The tennis team will play Newport on Friday, Oct. 14 at Mercer Island High School in another make up match.

Islanders beat Bellevue in four games | Volleyball

The Mercer Island volleyball team rallied to beat Bellevue Wednesday evening in four games.
The Islanders took the 3-1 win with 25-22, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-14 scores.
During the games Lorial Yeadon recorded nine kills, Rachel Bowdle had 15 digs, Sara Lindquist had nine kills and six aces, while Carly Wilson posted 22 assists and Robby Blood added eight kills.
The Islanders will head to Sammamish on Monday, Oct. 17 and host Liberty on Oct. 19.
