Letter | Giving heroes at Yogabliss

A huge thanks to those who came to Practices in Gratitude sessions, and hats off to Yogabliss for choosing a local organization to support during an important season of giving.

Thanksgiving is the quintessential season to give to those less fortunate.

For the last three years, Yogabliss has donated their revenue on Thanksgiving to Mercer Island Youth and Family Services, and more specifically to the Emergency Assistance Fund.

Islanders of all ages come to the “Practices in Gratitude” yoga classes offered on Thanksgiving morning. Classes are $20 per person, with the option to give more. This practical gift of gratitude is just one example of the invisible thread of support that shows how Islanders take care of their own community.

I have participated in these yoga sessions each year. While in class, I’ve had the opportunity to talk about the services and programs offered by MIYFS.

Starting my Thanksgiving Day in this way is cleansing in both mind and body, especially after listening to the instructor’s story told at the end of the yoga session.

A huge thanks to those who came to Practices in Gratitude sessions, and hats off to Yogabliss for choosing a local organization to support during an important season of giving.
