Mercer Island beats Inglemoor in first game of season | Prep boys basketball

After getting in the groove earlier in the week at the KingCo jamobree, the Mercer Island boys basketball team started off the season with a 77-46 nonconference win over Inglemoor Friday night.

After getting in the groove earlier in the week at the KingCo jamobree, the Mercer Island boys basketball team started off the season with a 77-46 nonconference win over Inglemoor Friday night.

The Islanders were up 19-14 at the end of the first quarter, adding 18 points in the second quarter for a 37-19 lead at halftime. After the break the team posted 28 points in the third quarter, running away with the lead.

Kaleb Warner hit a season high of 30 points, while both Jake Shaddle and Will Taylor had 12 in the win. Nick Nordale had nine points, Joe Rasmussen added six for the team, Max Tilden posted four and both Espen Platou and Teddy van der Velden had two points.

Mercer Island will travel to Sammamish Friday, Dec. 7 for the team’s first conference game of the season in an 8 p.m. tipoff and will travel to Tacoma to play Bellarmine Prep on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
