Mercer Island Eastside FC team earns invitation to California tournament

The Eastside FC's girls U99 Red team recently earned an invitation to the San Diego Surf Cup. The team, coached by Michelle French, won the 2011 Northwest Champions League girls U12 title and were offered an invitation to the San Diego event.

The Eastside FC’s girls U99 Red team recently earned an invitation to the San Diego Surf Cup.

The team, coached by Michelle French, won the 2011 Northwest Champions League girls U12 title and were offered an invitation to the San Diego event.

In the playoffs, the team won their semi-final game 1-0 and played in the finals on Sunday. Dec. 4 in Portland, Ore.

The team had an early 1-0 lead, and held on to earn the win.

Mercer Island residents on the team include: MacKenzie Caputo, Claire Mansfield, Kendall Riley and Paige Roberston.
