Mercer Island girls golfers finish second at districts

The MIHS girls golf team finished second at Monday’s district competition. The team finished with a score of 52, just behind Holy’s Names district winning 61 points.
Chelsea Saelee, Haley Chinn, Kayce Ogishima, Sarah Peterson and Jackie Pearson all earned spots in the state competition next week.
Saelee was third overall, shooting a 75. The course par at Riverbend Golf Course is 72. Kristan Tan of Holy Names won the event, shooting a 69. Chinn finished eighth, shooting a 83. Ogishima was 10th with an 86. Peterson finished in 15th place with an 89 and Pearson had a score of 93 for 18th place. The top 19 golfers at districts move to the state competition in Richland next weekend at the Horn Rapids Golf Club starting May 25.
Only senior Kristen Numata did not qualify for state.
