The University of Washington has announced its President’s Medalists for the Class of 2011. The President’s Medal is awarded to the graduating senior who has achieved the most distinguished academic record at the university.

Jacob T. Bobman has been named the four-year medalist, and was presented with the award by President Phyllis Wise at commencement on June 11 at Husky Stadium. Bobman came to the UW from Mercer Island High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics, with college honors, and a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry, along with minors in music, chemistry and international studies. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated summa cum laude.

Bobman is also a Washington State Scholar, for which he received a four-year full tuition scholarship. While at the UW, Bobman worked in the Kim Laboratory conducting behavioral neuroscience research, and wrote his honors Mathematics thesis on cryptography research. In addition, Bobman studied abroad in Costa Rica, sang with the UW Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Men’s Glee Club, and held leadership positions within the University Honors Program.

Bobman will attend medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons on a full tuition Dean’s Merit Scholarship.
