Mercer Island High School athletic director takes on new role at school

Mercer Island High School’s Craig Olson, who has served as the school’s athletic director for the last 18 years, announced Monday he will be stepping down from the position.

Olson said he’ll continue to work at the school in an administrative position, but will not be returning to the athletic side.

“Given the fact that the high school is gaining a new principal, Vicki Puckett, and two new associate principals, Jamie Prescott and Jeff D’Ambrosio, I will be assuming more responsibility in the school regarding instructional leadership, overall school administration, and mentorship of the two associate principals,” he said. “There are so many aspects of athletic administration I will miss, particularly the relationships formed with coaches. I am very proud that we continue to offer the best educationally-based high school athletic program in the state.”

Prescott will be taking over the duties of athletic director at the school.

” I have known Jamie as a student-athlete here at Mercer Island, hired her for an English teaching position, hired her as our head girls’ basketball coach, and served on the committee which hired her as an associate principal. She is exceptional and I leave an excellent program in highly capable hands,” said Olson.
