Laura Clarice Martin pleaded guilty on Tuesday, June 19, to assault and malicious mischief.

Children were in Martin’s care at her North end home day care when she attacked her boyfriend with an 8-inch kitchen knife on Nov. 21, 2011.

Martin, who had been drinking, was arrested, booked into jail and released the next day. Her day care license was suspended.

Martin’s trial was initially scheduled for Wednesday, June 20, but she pleaded guilty on Tuesday.

The court continued sentencing, giving the judge more time to consider what type of punishment to impose.
