Mercer Island man dies in motorcycle accident in Woodinville

A 68-year-old Mercer Island man died Friday morning when his motorcycle “dumped” in an intersection. He apparently slid into another vehicle and was killed. The accident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. on Friday, March 19, in Woodinville.

The accident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. on Friday, March 19, in Woodinville.

A 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650 was eastbound on N.E. 195th. The driver was turning left onto northbound Woodinville-Snohomish Road, crossing the intersection.

Another vehicle, a 2004 Jeep Liberty, was westbound on N.E. North Woodinville Way, also crossing the intersection.

It appears that the motorcycle went down and the rider slid into the second vehicle, hitting his head. He died at the scene. He was wearing a motorcycle helmet.

There is no indication that the motorcycle and the car actually collided.

The Jeep Liberty was driven by a 17-year-old male from Woodinville.
