July 27 TRESPASS: At 9:45 p.m. a resident of the 7800 block of 85th Place S.E. returned home from vacation and found an 18-year-old man and 15-year-old girl in her home. The girl fled, but the man remained inside the house, where he was arrested by Mercer Island police. The girl was later arrested. Neither teen had permission to be inside the home. Both admitted to “unlawful entry via an unlocked door.”

FRAUD: At 4:23 p.m. a 23-year-old Mercer Island resident reported that her 45-year-old mother used her personal information to open a “telecommunications account” in the daughter’s name without permission. The account has an outstanding balance of $358.45. “Attempts to get the mother to pay on the account have been unsuccessful,” according to the police report.

Aug. 1

ARREST: An officer pulled over a silver 2001 Lexus for a traffic violation in the 7600 block of 27th Street at 1:17 p.m. and found that the driver, a 32-year-old Sammamish man, had a record that included driving without a license in the third degree, five counts of failure to appear in court and an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant. The man was arrested and turned over to the Bellevue Police Department.

Aug. 4

BIKE ACCIDENT: At 12:38 p.m. a caller reported that a 39-year-old Mercer Island bicyclist had fallen on a bike and hiking trail near the 6700 block of Island Crest Way. The cyclist was transported to the hospital by the Mercer Island Fire Department.

GRAFFITI: At 1:18 a caller reported graffiti on the Islander Middle School portables that read “MAUS.” A DecoColor paint marker was found at the scene.

Aug. 7

FOUND: A wallet was found at the Park on the Lid and turned over to the Mercer Island Police Department.

Aug. 8

TRAFFIC OFFENSE: At 12:52 p.m. on Sunday, a Mercer Island police officer impounded a 2010 Audi that was illegally parked in the 2900 block of 60th Avenue S.E. and issued a citation. The car partially blocked the northbound lane and “caused traffic to jam.” According to the police report, the owner of the vehicle “was reserving a portion of the highway for stopping, standing or parking.”
