Theft

A woman living in the 7700 block of 85th Place S.E. reported that a leaf blower went missing from her storage shed sometime between the beginning of October and Nov. 28. According to the police report, the victim’s son first noticed that the leaf blower was missing. The woman said she suspects that a landscaper who had worked at their house stole the leaf blower. The same man reportedly did landscaping at the victim’s church, where another leaf blower was stolen in October. The approximate loss is $200.

A man living in the 8400 block of S.E. 36th Street reported that somebody stole a package from his front door on Dec. 2. According to the incident report, the victim’s daughter saw the package at 4 p.m. When the victim returned home at 4:30 p.m., the package was no longer there.

A woman living in the 8400 block of West Mercer Way reported that somebody stole a generator from her carport. The theft occurred sometime between Nov. 24 and Dec. 1. The total loss is $500.

Approximately $600 worth of jewelry was stolen from a woman living in the 9000 block of East Shorewood Drive sometime between Nov. 1 and Nov. 7. According to the police report, the 73-year-old woman noticed that a Tiffany’s sterling silver ring and bracelet were missing from her room. About one week later, the woman found two gray-blue gardening gloves in her bedroom beneath the window. The gloves did not belong to her. She stated that she most likely left the window unlocked.

A woman reported that a check she mailed to her landscaper was stolen on Dec. 7. According to the incident report, she discovered that the check was made out to Rite Aid and cashed under a different name and address.

A woman reported that a pair of 24 kt gold earrings was stolen from her jewelry box sometime in September. According to the report, the woman noticed that her jewelry box was open in September, but thought that the house cleaners may have accidently left it open. Earlier this month, when she wanted to wear the earrings, she discovered that they were missing.

Burglary

A man living in the 7200 block of 92nd Avenue S.E. reported that his house was burgled on Dec. 5. According to the incident report, the man heard the sound of glass breaking at approximately 10 p.m. He walked from his bedroom into the kitchen where he saw the intruder, who turned and ran out the door and sped off in a dark-colored SUV. The victim does not know whether the intruder entered the driver’s or passenger’s side of the vehicle, which was parked, running, in the man’s driveway with its headlights on. The intruder departed in the direction of East Mercer Way. He entered the residence by breaking the lower pane window of the front door and unlocking the dead bolt from the inside.

Fraud

An Island man reported that three fraudulent transactions were made on his business account on Dec. 2. A total of $115 was stolen. The bank has been notified.

Arrests

A 20-year-old Island woman was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant on Dec. 3. According to the police report, the woman was pulled over in the 3900 block of Island Crest Way and arrested.

A North-end QFC employee called to report a suspicious man who he had noticed several times at the grocery store. An officer ran the man’s name and discovered that he was wanted for an outstanding Federal Way misdemeanor warrant. The officer and employee made contact with the 23-year-old and confirmed the warrant. The man was arrested and transported to the Federal Way Police Department.

Accidents

A man veered off of West Mercer Way and collided into a tree on Dec. 3. According to the incident report, the man was heading southbound on West Mercer Way when he took his eyes off the road, turned into a curve and veered off the roadway on its west side and crashed into a tree. The man said he lost focus of the road while adjusting the car stereo. No injuries were reported.

Lost property

An Island senior reported that she lost her fanny pack sometime between Dec. 1 and Dec. 5. According to the police report, the fanny pack included the woman’s Bank of America debit card, social security card and about $160 in cash. She had not yet noticed any unusual charges on her debit card.
