Mercer Island Youth and Family Services’ signature fundraising event, the “Giving From the Heart” Breakfast, which was held one week ago, raised $120,000 — 20 percent over last year, said MIYFS director Cindy Goodwin.

More than 500 attended the event at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center last Wednesday.

The money raised was a combination of contributions at the event, sponsorships, the sale of raffle tickets and matching funds, Goodwin said.

MIYFS also sends out an appeal by mail to all Islanders in the fall.
