MI girls golf bests Roosevelt by 106 strokes | Prep Notebook

The Mercer Island girls golf team beat Roosevelt on Thursday afternoon in a home match at Jefferson Park Golf Course. The Islanders beat the Roughriders by 106 strokes, taking the match 218-324.

Chelsea Saelee earned her second consecutive first place finish for Mercer Island, finishing with a 37, just one stroke over par. Haley Chinn was second overall with a score of 40. Jackie Pearson was third with 44, Kayce Ogishima was fourth with a 48 and Kristen Numata was fifth with a 49.

Girls lacrosse

The Islanders advanced to a 3-1 record after beating Tacoma in division I lacrosse on Thursday night 11-8. The Islanders will next host Garfield, after the school’s spring break, on April 8 at 8 p.m.

The Mercer Island girls division II fell to undefeated Overlake Thursdsay evening, losing 16-14. Overlake’s Kerri Smith had five goals, while Ellen Horton had three goals for Mercer Island.

Boys track

The Mercer Island boys track team earned a convincing win over Ballard in their first home match of the season yesterday. The Islanders won 103-38.
