Owners and Island residents Bill Kratz and his wife, Connie Manuel, said their “European-style” business will focus more on simple designs, sometimes just a single flower, for everyday life, and not on arrangements for big events.

Kratz worked for a florist in high school and had floral shops near the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and in New Orleans.

An informational website is in the works at www.anthophiles.com.
