El Sombrero and Zaw have closed

The Mexican restaurant on the south end of the Island, El Sombrero, and Zaw, the take-and-bake pizzeria on the north end, have both closed recently.

The Rodriguez family, El Sombrero’s owners, have specialized in Mexican food since 1972, and have been serving the Northwest since 1980, according to the restaurant’s website. They also own Torero’s in Crossroads Mall.

Mercer Island was Zaw’s first location outside of Seattle. According to its website, it has other locations in Redmond, Queen Anne, West Seattle and Tukwila.
