Police add officers to prevent streaking at lacrosse match

Fans who came to support lacrosse players during the state semifinal game at Islander Stadium last Wednesday evening may have noticed a handful of police officers on duty standing on or around the field.

Fans who came to support lacrosse players during the state semifinal game at Islander Stadium last Wednesday evening may have noticed a handful of police officers on duty standing on or around the field.

Officer Dave Jokinen confirmed that additional officers had been assigned to be at the game, which was against Bellevue High School.

“It was nothing sginificant,” Jokinen said of the increased police presence. But it was Bellevue.

“We had heard rumors that eight or nine individuals were planning on streaking at the match,” he said. “We put a few extra officers on ‘streaking prevention detail’.”
