National Night Out is an annual event held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, designed to bring neighbors together, not only to improve crime prevention awareness and family emergency preparedness, but also to strengthen neighborhood spirit and community partnerships.
From 6-9 p.m. on Aug. 4, residents are asked to lock doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening with neighbors outside in their neighborhood.
A party for downtown residents will be held at Sculpture Park (along Sunset Highway between 77th Ave S.E. and 80th Ave S.E.) from 5-7 p.m. Anyone can join the party. There will be hot dogs and live music. Music is performed by Nancy Stewart and sponsored by the Mercer Island Library.
Come meet your neighbors and local police and fire fighters, and get reintroduced or acquainted with other city officials.
If you would like to register your neighborhood for National Night Out, please contact Officer Jennifer Franklin at jennifer.franklin@mercergov.org.
