Rotary names Islanders of the Month for March

The Rotary Club named Mercer Island High School seniors Forest Kruus and Sierra Lanham its students of the month for March.

The Rotary Club named Mercer Island High School seniors Forest Kruus and Sierra Lanham its students of the month for March.

At school, Kruus is secretary of the Computer Club and president of the Magic the Gathering Club.

Outside of school, he is involved with King County Explorer Search and Rescue and is a volunteer with the YMCA Earth Service Corps.

His hobbies include soccer, hiking and building computers.

The son of Stacey and Anders Kruus, he plans to study environmental sciences and pursue a job in researching ecology, zoology or meteorology.

Lanham has participated in volleyball at Mercer Island High School and has taught volleyball outside of school.

She is involved with Global Visionaries, Seattle Tilth, Earth Corps, Little Bit and Keystone at the Mercer Island Boys and Girls Club.

Her hobbies include reading, going on hikes and playing board games.

After graduating from high school, Lanham plans to go to college and travel the world.
