Dave Spicer will discuss “Climate Crisis is Real and What Rotarians are Doing” at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on Oct. 21 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St. The main meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.; socializing is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and there is no fee to attend. A catered lunch is available for $25, or attendees can bring their own meal.
In addition to a part-time law practice, Spicer has led or supported more than 50 Rotary water projects in Africa and Latin America, reaching more than 200,000 people, and has made 12 humanitarian trips to six countries. In recent years, he has also chaired Rotary District environmental committees, advancing projects like battery recycling and Duwamish River restoration. Outside Rotary, Spicer practiced law (1980–2024) and worked in the nonprofit sector (2005–2019). He also served on the board of Ventures, a leading U.S. microlending nonprofit.
