MIHS runner participates in Nike Border Clash

Mercer Island High School track and cross country runner Lindsay Benster, a sophomore at the school, recently participated in the 11th annual Nike Border Clash, an invitational event for the top high school runners in Washington and Oregon. It was the second year in a row that Benster qualified for the race after finishing eighth at the state cross country meet in November.

Out of the 160 racers running at Nike’s International Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., Benster finished 13th and is only the second MIHS student to qualify twice. Previously, Brian Govier ran the race in 2003 and 2004, while Brandon Fellows also competed in 2004 and Nicole Kelleher took part in 1999.
