From May 12-22, Mercer Island’s Parks Capital team visited 54 classrooms across all four elementary schools to hear from more than 1,200 students about the Deane’s Children’s Park site plan. Kids from K-5 voted on play equipment, shared theme ideas to go with Kenton’s Dragon, and even drew their dream playgrounds. This hands-on activity gave students a chance to shape the future of their community — and their ideas will help guide the playground’s design, which the city will share with the community this July. The city thanks the teachers, staff, volunteers, PTAs and the Mercer Island School District for making this possible. Learn more about the project at: https://www.mercerisland.gov/dcpg.
