Thomas returns to Mercer Island

He steps in as interim director for Community Planning and Development

Jeff Thomas returns to Mercer Island as the city’s interim director for the Community Planning and Development Department (CPD). Early in his career, he was the city’s principal planner for two years.

Thomas will begin his yearlong interim assignment on Sept. 28. During his more than 20-year planning career, he was recently the CPD director for the city of Marysville, and he served in that same role with the cities of Bellingham and Sammamish during the prior 12 years.

“I am thrilled that Jeff has accepted this 12-month interim assignment and I have no doubt that his extensive technical and policy skills will serve us well during this time of great transition,” said Mercer Island City Manager Jessi Bon.
