James T. “Tom” McInnis

James T. “Tom” McInnis, 74, died Sunday, July 19, 2015 after battling a lengthy illness. Tom carried his cross in the same heroic manner that he lived his life.

Tom was born on June 19, 1941 in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, the son of the late John and Eva McInnis.

Tom’s life was a life of service to others. After serving with the Irish Christian Brothers for 11 years, Tom worked and served in Catholic education for over 30 years. He worked as a principal at St. Monica School on Mercer Island, WA and then became the Asst. V.P. of Employee Development at Seafirst Bank in Seattle, WA. After moving to Minneapolis, in 1998, he became the first Principal of Cedarcrest Academy (now Ave Maria Academy). He retired and moved to Steubenville, in 2007. Tom was a joyful person whose life goals revolved around humble service to his family, friends, co-workers, church and community.

Surviving are his wife Susan (Kramer) McInnis, to whom he has been married for 43 years and five children, Jennifer (Bob) Hickey of Cleveland, Lisa (Brenan) Pergi, of Steubenville, Michael (Lisa) McInnis of Columbus, Teresa McInnis of Atlanta, Monica (Maximillian) Amster of Tampa,and 17 grandchildren.

Tom will also be missed by his brothers, Lou (Carole) of North Vancouver, BC, Joseph (Agnes) of Vancouver, BC and sister, Ellen Coward of London, England and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was a member of Holy Family Parish and he enjoyed serving the homeless with L.A.M.P ministries. Tom loved spending time with his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His presence brought joy and comfort to the many lives that he touched throughout the years.

Visiting hours are Friday, July 24, 2015 from 4-7pm (Rosary at 4pm) at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, Steubenville. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, at Holy Family Church at 10am, Msgr. Calovini celebrant. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
