Surrounded by her loving family, our beloved Kathleen was taken from us, following a courageous battle on September 5, 2012. Katie was born in Missoula, Montana on May 21, 1953. Katie grew up in Spokane and later in Bellevue; graduated from Sammamish High School in 1971, attended Western Washington University and graduated from University of Washington with a BA in Early Childhood Psychology. Katie managed the daycare at The Mercer Island Methodist Church from 1987-1991. While there, she nurtured many families and young children. Katie entered the retail business world, first with Nestle foods and later with The Wrigley Chewing Gum Company. Katie won many awards for her work and the respect of those in the retail sales industry.Richard and Katie were married 33 years and leaves two sons, Matthew and Kyle. Katie is survived by brother, Rick Gillmore and mother, Dorothy Gillmore. Katie was always a kind soul and practiced being a caregiver for all humanity, young and old. Always willing to take up the task to help others, Katie will be sorely missed. A gathering of the Irish tradition will be held at the family home on September 29 at 1 pm.
