Mark Andrew Monson

Mark Andrew Monson, 56 years 100 days, glass, metal, ceramic artist, culinary gastronome par excellence, is now the belle of the ball visiting Mom, Ida, Aunt Jennie, Mike, Guy, Walt Sr., Tyler, Papa, Ma, Ruth, Walter, and many others important in his life. As well, he is getting to know his grandfather Edward Shaide and great uncle Carl T. Anderson.

Mark arrived in Swedish Hospital, Seattle, March 9, 1957. Born to blissful parents of North Dakota origin and mostly Norsk descent, Edna S. and Andrew E. Monson, who little suspected what this energetic force of nature, bundle of joy, would bring to their household. He was taken and called away from life on this earth, June 16, 2013.

Confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mercer Island.

Attended Bryant Elementary (Seattle) West Mercer Elementary, North Junior High and graduated with the class of 1976, Mercer Island High School. Attended WWU, and U of W, ceramics and industrial design a focus.

Resided in Seattle until the age of 7, relocated to Mercer Island – did the fun begin! – moving to Seattle, his final destination in adulthood.

Multifaceted person and career paths. Interests: fly fishing, skiing, chef, hiking, using his hands and imagination in a multitude of ways; creative passion permeated his approach to life- cooking being a natural outlet for his innate abundance of off the beaten path, innovative fly in the face of conventionality twist on the task at hand.

Previously co-owner of GlassHouse Studio, Seattle.

Humorous, sometimes biting. Socialite, many friends. Solitary at times, and to some mysterious. Had physical and other issues that he overcame. His Norsk heritage important to him.

Family who shared in his life: dad Andy, (Margot) sister Jane Monson (Dennis Toom) and aunt Mary Ann Nelson. Predeceased by his mom, Edna May.
