Miriam Ann Rice

“Mimi” Miriam Ann (Wynne) Rice

May 20, 1937 – February 6, 2016

Our beloved wife, mother, nana, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and caregivers on February 6, 2016, due to a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Mimi was born in Seattle, Washington to Albert and Thelma Wynne, on May 20, 1937. She was the oldest of two children and was preceded in death by her brother Chuck.

Mimi attended Roosevelt High School graduating in 1955 and furthered her education at the University of Washington; graduating with a degree in Business Education. She also enjoyed the Greek system as a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

Mimi married her high school sweetheart Dave Rice in 1958. After college Mimi and Dave went into the Air force to do their medical residency and traveled extensively in Europe. Together they had and raised 3 children on Mercer Island; Jennifer Susan Rice (Troxel) age 53, Jeffery Patrick Rice age 50, and Julie Ann Rice (Crosetto) age 42.

Mimi passion was her kids, their activities and all that life on Lake Washington has to offer. She enjoyed all aspects of sports including tennis, boating, golf and watching the kids on the beaches of Kauai. Anything the kids played, she wanted to play too.

Mimi spent many years in the travel industry, devoted her time to the Ryther Child Center and to local Mercer Island kids who loved her home styled cooking. Her love language was her cooking and she was an expert at it.

Mimi is survived by her husband, Dave, her three children and seven grandchildren.

A celebration of Mimi’s life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please give to the Ryther Child Center. A special thanks to her caregivers at luv’n care and Gentiva Hospice.
