Nicole Airut | Obituary

Nicole Airut, born January 20, 1939 in Cairo, Egypt; died February 8, 2024 in Mercer Island, WA.

Nicole was preceded by her husband of fifty years, Andre Airut, and is survived by her daughter, Carole (James); five

grandchildren: Sean, Audrey, Monica, Jacqueline, and Julia (Levi); and great-granddaughter Lorelai. With Andre and Carole, Nicole emigrated to Seattle in 1967. Nicole was the rock of her family, enabling her husband’s recruitment and extensive tenure with Boeing and supporting Carole through graduate school. Nicole joined Andre at Boeing but, when her grandchildren arrived, she retired in order for them to be the center of her attention and duly reciprocated affection.

Nicole was also a great, cherished friend to many. A sophisticated socialite, Nicole forged friendships everywhere she went. Nicole was one of the earliest members of the Bellevue Club, where she expanded her circle of friends while keeping herself in great physical shape. And Nicole was the vaunted host of lavish parties, tantalizing bridge tournaments, and will be remembered forever as the most sociable, beautiful woman in the room. She radiated glamour and elegance, balanced with generosity, hospitality, and an indelible devotion to her family. All those who had the privilege to know her deeply miss her. Their love for Nicole will never cease.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Saint Monica Church, 4311 88th Avenue, S.E., Mercer Island, WA 98040 at 11:00 a.m.
