Robert M. Levenson was born in Yakima, Washington and grew up in Kent, Washington. Dr. Levenson attended the U of WA and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Harborview Medical Center where he met Maria Hofmeister, who became his wife. As a captain in the US Army Air Corps, Robert was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Then he completed his fellowship in Cardiology at UCSF. He moved to Mercer Island in 1953 to set up his Seattle Cardiology practice and also began working with the American Heart Association His focus was on Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise. Robert loved fishing, tennis, music, travel, and most of all, his family. He was preceded in death by his sister RoseEllen Newhall, brother Hugh Levenson, son-in-law Gary Burnett, and grandson David Scott Burnett. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maria, his children Bob (Sabrina), Albert (Susan), David, Nancy Burnett, Linda (Steve Hering), Mary (Paul Higinbotham), and grandchildren Amy, Case, Mira, and Shana Levenson, Daniel Burnett, and Marie and Hugh Higinbotham. His life was celebrated by his family and friends in a private service at Sunset Hills Memorial Park. Remembrances (in lieu of flowers) should be sent to the American Heart Association or Redeemer Lutheran Church, Mercer Island, WA.
