Ruth Louise Fay

Ruth Louise Fay of Kirkland and Mercer Island passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Ruth Allison was born in Seattle on July 8, 1922, the daughter of Carl and Josephine Allison. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1940 and subsequently worked for the United States Navy in support of the war effort. After the war, she joined Pan American World Airways as a stewardess flying for several years where she met her future husband, Gerald Fay, a pilot for Pan Am. They were married on July 10, 1948 and together they built a loving home on Mercer Island. Ruth and Jerry enjoyed travelling with their children to the Orient, to Maui and to their summer home on Lake Vermilion, Minnesota. Ruth will be forever missed by her sons, Michael Fay (Maureen), Patrick Fay (Krista); daughters, Michele Fay-Lonsdale (Dan), Joannie Fay-Meyer (John), Allison Doherty (Brian) and Marianna Scheller (Erik), 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Harold Allison of Seattle, cousins, nieces, nephews and her many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald who passed away in 1988. Ruthie was an amazing, loving and giving hostess. Her faith, kindness and generosity were unsurpassed and she will be forever in our hearts.
