WILLIAM ALLAN (BILL) SANBORN

March 4, 1946 – November 28, 2017

Born in Seattle to Charles F. and Mary E. Sanborn. Moved to Mercer Island in 1952.

A sixty four year resident, attended MI schools, including South Mercer Community Club building for first and second grades. Graduated in 1965. Graduated from Seattle University with a BA in Business and UPS with a MBA.

Bill was a sales manager for golf course equipment such as irrigation. Managed a lumber yard for many years.

His passions were sailing, flying and skiing. He crewed or skipped on numerous boats. Racing in Swiftsure and Tri-Island and spent time cruising in the San Juans and Desolation Sound. He paid for college by ski instructing. Managing a short ski program for many years. He skied in the N.W. and Europe. Enjoyed travel and visited the Far East, Europe and Caribbean. Sailing in Caribbean. He was a private pilot.

In retirement he wandered the Cascades exploring for gold. He was restoring a Seaborn 42 ,“Stormy Weather”, built in 1948 and had it sailing.

Survived by father Charles and brother Patrick; nephews Reid (Amber, Ryder), Andy (Michelle, Byden, Parker) and numerous cousins. Predeceased by mother Mary, niece Madelline and ex-wife Andrea Reynolds.
