I have been a realtor with John L. Scott on Mercer Island for 24 years so have witnessed many changes on the Island and in its neighborhoods.

I grew up on Mercer Island since 1966, attending St. Monica elementary and then South Mercer Junior high and finally Mercer Island High School. My Dad was in the Air Force for 27 years and he and my mom had moved 17 times before he retired.

Mercer Island was their top choice to raise their five children and continue to work at Boeing. They loved living on the Island so much they never left!

Their reasons for choosing Mercer Island are the same today: great schools, ideally located between Bellevue and Seattle yet still with a small town feel, low crime rate, mild winters (they moved from Montana!), and gorgeous scenery both on the island and off.

Mercer Island offers abundant public waterfront parks, trails, sport courts, and the community enjoys homecoming parades, art walks, and a farmer’s market. There’s a town center with a wonderful locally owned book store, bakeries, coffee shops and a growing number of restaurants from which to choose.

The island enjoys a variety of water sports, and there’s snow skiing within 60 minutes. Soccer, lacrosse, baseball, tennis, pickleball and football keep the fields occupied and school spirit abounds.

The award-winning schools and low crime rate help hold the value of Mercer Island homes, the lifestyle keeps residents wanting to stay and call it home!
