Ed Pepple summer basketball camp

Mercer Island High School varsity head basketball coach Ed Pepple will host his annual summer camp in the Mercer Island High School gymnasium in two separate sessions.

Mercer Island High School varsity head basketball coach Ed Pepple will host his annual summer camp in the Mercer Island High School gymnasium in two separate sessions.

The first session will run from June 24-25 and June 27-28. Players in grades 3-6 will participate from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Players in grades 6-8 will participate 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

The second session will take place from June 29-30 and July 1-2. Grades 3-8 will participate from 9:30 a.m. until noon, and grades 9-12 will participate from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Girls tennis team advances to districts

The Mercer Island girls tennis team took home the No. 1 (Liz Oldenburg and Audrey Morton) and No. 2 (Taylor Gwinn and Ashley Nield) doubles seeds to districts. Islander sophomore Amelia Carpenter lost in the finals of the 3A KingCo tournament but will advance to districts as the No. 2 seed. Both the Boys and Girls tennis teams will play finals matches today at Lower Woodland Park during the Sea-King district meet.
