Edwards earns USA Swimming All-American honors

Stellar 2018-19 season garners recognition.

USA Swimming named Mercer Island resident Alex Edwards as a scholastic All-American for the 2018-19 school year.

Edwards, 16, will enroll at the Mercersburg Academy for his junior year of high school this coming fall in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. Edwards was a dominant force during his two seasons on the Mercer Island Islanders boys swim team. He qualified for the 3A state meet the past two years in a row. During the 2018-19 season. Edwards qualified for the state meet in all eight of the individual events (distinction known as the ironman). Edwards was a member of the Mercer Island 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay teams at the 3A state meet. He also captured second place in the 200 IM and 500 free at the 3A state meet.
