Islander Boyd traded to Mariners

Lefty pitcher Matthew Boyd, who grew up on Mercer Island, was traded to the Seattle Mariners from the San Francisco Giants on Aug. 2, according to a post on the M’s Twitter. Boyd, who played for Eastside Catholic during his high school years, was part of a trade that included Giants catcher Curt Casali and Mariner minor league pitcher Michael Stryffler and catcher Andy Thomas.

“Coming home! Let’s do this!” Boyd exclaimed in a Twitter post.

According to, the Mariners also acquired Dodgers infielder/outfielder Jake Lamb for cash considerations or a player to be named later.
