Islanders hand Bellevue first loss | Prep volleyball

Mercer Island takes control of first place in KingCo 3A/2A division.

Mercer Island volleyball took control of its division Wednesday night at Bellevue High School, sweeping the undefeated Wolverines in three sets 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20 to hand the Wolverines their first loss of the year. The Islanders improved to 8-1 on the season and 6-0 in the KingCo 3A/2A standings.

Jemma Yeadon had 15 kills, 16 digs and two blocks for Mercer Island, while Brooke Behrbaum had seven kills, three blocks and three digs, Olivia Hughes had seven kills, two aces, three blocks and three digs and Kelly Behrbaum contributed seven kills and two digs in the winning effort.

The Islanders will travel to Interlake High School to take on the Saints for its second matchup of the season. The Islanders won the Sept. 15 match 3-1 at MIHS.
