Mercer Island fourth at KingCo tournament | Girls prep golf

The Mercer Island girls golf team competed in the KingCo tournament at Willows Run Golf Course on Monday, May 6. The Islanders finished in fourth place as a team overall with a score of 486. Interlake won the event with a team score of 468.

The Mercer Island girls golf team competed in the KingCo tournament at Willows Run Golf Course on Monday, May 6. The Islanders finished in fourth place as a team overall with a score of 486. Interlake won the event with a team score of 468.

Individually, Interlake’s Aleana Groenhout won the event, shooting 73. Mercer Island’s Jane Peterson finished in seventh place with a 93, followed by Madison Pearson in eighth place with a 94. Molly White finished in 10th place at 96 stroke, while Emma Young finished in 14th place with a 98. Katie Rorem was 21st overall with a score of 105.

Qualifying golfers earned a spot in the SeaKing District tournament on Monday, May 13 at Riverbend Golf Course. From there, golfers will earn spots into the 3A state tournament.
