Mercer Island girls basketball advances to the district championship

The Mercer Island girls basketball advanced to the district title game on Saturday after their semi-final win over Seattle Prep this evening.

The final score was 66-38 for the Islanders.

The team, which had a solid first half, ending the second quarter with a 38-23 lead, stalled a little in the third, scoring just 8 points. Seattle Prep challegned the Islanders in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Panthers earlier deficit.

The Islanders will face Holy Names in the district championship on Saturday night, with an 8:15 p.m. tipoff at Bellevue College.
