Mercer Island Mountain Bike riders reach podium at Gig Harbor race

The Mercer Island middle and high school mountain biking teams had another impressive showing at the Pedaling the Peninsula race, held April 17 in Gig Harbor.

The high school team placed third out of 21 teams with five Mercer Island riders racing, while the middle school team placed sixth out of 16 teams with 25 Island riders competing.

Podium finishes included:

-Brennan Hodgins, 2nd place junior varsity high school boys

-Taylor Libman, 1st place intermediate high school girls

-Maggie Baker, 1st place beginner high school girls

-Eleanor Lindenmayer, 4th place 8th grade girls

-Ethan Libman, 4th place 7th grade boys

Three league series point leaders from the high school team will ride with the lead jersey in the next race this Sunday in Roslyn, with Hodgins, Libman and Baker all wearing leader jerseys.
