The Yankees came back from a seven-run deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the Mercer Island Little league title 10-9. The May 30 championship game against the Tigers went into extra innings at the South Mercer Playfields.

The game started rough for the Yankees, with the score sitting at 9-2 by the end of the fifth inning. The Tigers, led by pitcher Christopher Lawler, managed to keep the Yankees in check despite having lost to them in two previous games.

The Yankees came up to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning and got off to a slow start with a strikeout. Ben Furukawa then hit a single down the third baseline. Michael Bantle followed with a single, also down the third baseline. Daniel Sims walked, loading the bases.

Yankee Isak Morris hit a rocket to left field for a double, clearing the bases and bringing the score up 9-5. Peter Welch hit an infield single to second base and Ryan Perkinson walked, loading the bases again. Derek Sims ripped a line drive to left field, clearing the bases again and leaving the score 9-8. The next batter hit a grounder for the second out. Chase Anderegg stepped up to the plate and hit a hard shot to left field, scoring Sims and tying the game 9-9.

Welch and Bantle pitched the seventh inning for the Yankees, holding the Tigers scoreless.

In the bottom of the seventh, Yankee Sean Pyne reached base on an error and Karl Manner walked. With no outs on the board, Nelson Tate stepped up to the plate and hit a line drive double to right-center field, scoring Pyne for the winning run.
