Mercer Island High School’s boys and girls cross country teams will be headed to the 3A state championship meet on Nov. 8 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. At the 3A SeaKing District 2 meet on Oct. 31 at Lake Sammamish State Park, the boys repeated as team champions and the girls finished second. Islander Sophia Rodriquez three-peated as champion (17:21.8) and the MIHS boys top finisher was Matthew Lawrence (third, 15:19.6). The other MIHS boys runners are: Connor Ward, Bodie Thomas, Finn Bunker, Matthew Greer, Baylen McCarthy and Jake Powell.
