Pair of MIHS wrestlers win 3A KingCo tourney titles

Mercer Island High School (MIHS) wrestlers Max Martin and Chase Warnick snagged 3A KingCo championship tournament individual titles on Feb. 4 at Juanita High School. Martin won at 138 pounds and Warnick triumphed at 145 pounds as the Islanders placed third in the team standings.

Other MIHS qualifiers for the 3A Region 4 championship tournament (with their KingCo places) on Feb. 10-11 at Juanita are:

The top five place regional winners at each weight will qualify to participate in the state Mat Classic XXXIV championship tournament on Feb. 17-18 at the Tacoma Dome.

MIHS wins Relentless VII Tournament team title

The MIHS wrestling team won the 17-team Relentless VII Tournament team title on Jan. 27 at Chief Sealth High School in Seattle.
