Sounders FC advance to MLS Cup behind Morris goal

Jordan Morris continues to impress in his first season with the Seattle Sounders FC.

A goal from the rookie forward in the 56th minute of the club’s second leg playoff matchup against the Colorado Rapids lifted the Sounders to the team’s first MLS Cup with a 1-0 victory Sunday in Denver.

Morris, a 2013 grad of Mercer Island High School, played while battling a stomach bug and left the game briefly after scoring the game’s only goal, following a collision with Colorado goalkeeper Zac MacMath. Morris soon returned after having his knee taped.

The Sounders will compete in the MLS final on Dec. 10. More details are still to be determined.
